Derick Hughes

Derick Hughes received his BA in philosophy from Cal Poly Pomona in 2017 and his PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2023. He specializes in moral psychology and normative ethics with interest in Africana philosophy. He is writing his dissertation on modesty and humility under the supervision of Iskra Fileva. For 2021-22, Derick was awarded the Emerson Dissertation Fellowship by College of Arts and Sciences. His work has appeared in Journal of Moral Philosophy, The Journal of Ethics, and has a paper forthcoming in Episteme.
