Welcome to the Orchestral Conducting program at CU Boulder! 

The University of Colorado Boulder offers both masters and doctoral degrees in orchestral conducting.  These programs are designed to offer a wide variety of opportunities for the graduate conductor who is interested in an academic or professional conducting career.  Our recent graduate conducting alumni (within the last ten years) are enjoying great success in various facets of the conducting profession.  Some of those positions, engagements and accomplishments include:

Gary Lewis

Gary Lewis is the Director of Orchestras and Professor of Music in the College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he conducts the University Symphony Orchestra and oversees the entire orchestra program. He also leads the graduate program in orchestral conducting including both the masters and doctoral level. His former students are currently enjoying success as conductors with professional orchestras and opera companies, university and public school ensembles, and youth orchestras. Prior to his appointment at CU, Lewis served on the faculties of Texas Tech University, The Ohio State University, The University of Michigan and Abilene Christian University.
