Olm Lab Fall 2025
Research Interests
The Integrative Microbiome Research Laboratory studies how the human gut microbiome assembles in early life and how it shapes, and is shaped by, the immune system. We combine strain-resolved metagenomics, immunological methods, and computational tool development to ask how infant microbiomes differ between industrialized and non-industrialized populations, and what those differences mean for allergy, autoimmunity, and other immune-mediated disease. Our lab also develops widely used open-source software for microbial genomics.
Personnel
The Integrative Microbiome Research Laboratory is run by Matthew R Olm, Ph.D. Current lab members are listed on our People page.
