Nicholas Helburn

Taught in the Geography Department from 1970 to 1989. 

Notable Accomplishments: 

  • Director of AGG--High School Geography Project (HSGP), 1964-1969.
  • Director of Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) for Social Studies/Social Science Education,  1970-1972.
  • Associate Director of the Natural Hazards Research and Application Information Center (now Natural Hazards Center), 1979-1981.
  • President of the Association of American Geographers (AAG) 1980-1981.
  • In 2002 the Peace and Justice Center recognized him as “Peacemaker of the Year.”
