Plan II Non-Thesis Option
Please note the non-thesis option will be available only to MS/MBA and MS/JD students beginning in Fall 2016. All other students in the ENVS MS program will be required to do a thesis.
Required Credit Hours
The degree requires completion of 36 credit hours as follows: 9 hours of a common core focused on science, policy and philosophy; 9-15 hours of a secondary core focused on developing substantive and methodological expertise; and 12-18 hours of electives chosen to broaden and deepen the graduate training.
Internship
The student who decides to complete the 36 credit hours necessary for the MS degree without a thesis must complete a two-credit internship with a faculty sponsor. See the Internship page.
Required Forms
Students who opt for this plan must be sure to complete a Master’s Course Plan Approval form in addition to the Candidacy Application by the posted Graduate School deadline. These forms require the signatures of the student’s advisor, graduate director and department chairman. Copies of the forms must be filed with the Graduate Coordinator.
