I hope to work in Latin America providing new, creative, and sustainable forms of infrastructure to people and cities in need. Combining my knowledge of Civil Engineering with my passion for the Spanish culture, I will implement culturally sensitive forms of infrastructure while communicating how to use tools to make infrastructure sustainable and long-lasting. I traveled to Bahía de Caráquez, Ecuador and helped construct homes out of bamboo for families who lost their houses in an earthquake in 2016. Working alongside the Ecuadorian construction workers, I learned vast amounts about construction and will be a leader on future construction sites. Furthermore, with the skills I am learning through pursuit of a Leadership Studies Minor, I am learning effective leadership and communication techniques that will ensure I achieve my dreams of making a difference around the world.
