2025-2026 GoldShirt Student Assistant Opening

The GoldShirt Student Assistant (GSSA) position is an essential part of providing holistic and inclusive support to students participating in Broadening Opportunities through Leadership and Diversity (BOLD) scholarship programs. The purpose of the GSSA position is to provide support to the Engineering GoldShirt Program, including supporting GoldShirt students, events, and projects. GoldShirt Student Assistants assist with event and program execution during the academic year, with the opportunity to work in the summer if both supervisor and employee agree. GSSAs will be hired and supervised by GoldShirt Program Professional staff. This position is approximately 8-20 hours per week. 

Areas of Responsibility 

The supervisor will work with each GSSA to decide which of the following responsibilities will be assigned to each GSSA in accordance with the needs of the GoldShirt program and the GSSA’s availability and interest. 

Creating a welcoming environment and supporting the students BOLD serves. 
  • Attend and support BOLD/GoldShirt programs 
  • Communicate with team members as well as other student employees 
  • Be open to learning and sharing personal perspective and experience 
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings 
  • Serve as an ambassador of The BOLD Center and role model BOLD’s mission, vision, and values 
Administrative duties 
  • Make phone calls to GoldShirt students 
  • Assist with the annual scholarship application review process 
  • Communicate with students about events, requirements, and opportunities 
  • Data entry for tracking student scholarship requirement process 
  • Canvas administration and grading 
  • Reserve event spaces 
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and 1:1 meetings with supervisor 
  • Check Microsoft teams and e-mail correspondence daily as well as respond to students and staff accordingly 
  • Effectively communicate, collaborate, and support BOLD professional staff and fellow student staff 
  • Conduct themselves responsibly and in accordance with expectations of the position and university policy 
  • Update spreadsheets and analyzing data 
  • Catalog and store photos, documents, and other data 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Event/program planning and coordination 
  • Plan & implement programming/events to engage the broader BOLD and GoldShirt community in community building and other activities 
  • Collaborate with professional staff to collect and track information for basic assessment of programs/events 
  • Order, purchase, inventory, and distribute materials/food for programming/events 
  • Market programs/events by creating and posting flyers, providing event details and a digital flyer to the BOLD newsletter, and creating Instagram and Canvas posts 
Mentorship 
  • Meet with assigned mentees on a regular basis, as determined by GoldShirt staff 
  • Cultivate interpersonal relationships built on mutual respect and trust with mentees 
  • Work with mentees to support them in defining and achieving their academic, professional, and personal goals 
  • Provide mentees with personalized guidance, advice, feedback, and support that aligns with their values, interests, goals, and needs 
  • Follow up with and refer mentees experiencing challenges to resources 
  • Attend 1-4 student society meetings or events with your mentees 
  • Submit timely and accurate communications to supervisors regarding students’ concerns (academic, health, personal, etc.) when appropriate 

Eligibility 

  • Must be an undergraduate student within CEAS at CU Boulder and enrolled in at least six credit hours 
  • Must maintain good academic standing and good conduct standing 
  • Must be a current GoldShirt scholar; preference given to 2nd-5th year students 
  • Must have a computer with a working microphone and stable internet access 
  • This position is eligible for renewal subject to qualifications, performance, and program needs 
  • Active involvement with BOLD and campus resources, programs, and student societies   

Pay & Compensation 

This is a Student Hourly I position with a pay rate of $17.00 and no additional benefits other than pro-rated sick leave.
