The College of Engineering and Applied Science begain a new tradition in 2018 with creation of the CU Engineering Homecoming Tailgate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this tradition will be suspended for 2020, but will be back in 2021 conditions permitting. 

This event is for alumni, families, and friends of the college to enjoy food, drinks, lawn games, and live music outsie the Engineering Center. The second annual tailgate in 2019 featured alumni-owned businesses: Bootstrap Brewing Company (Steve Kaczeus, MechEngr'82), Ratio Beerworks (Jason zumBrunnen, ChemEngr'97), and Stem Ciders (Phil Kao, MMechEngr'08, PhD'10) along with music from Paper Moonshine. .
