#ILookLikeAnEngineer

What does the #ILookLikeAnEngineer hashtag mean to you?

It means that engineers don't have a certain appearance. We can come in every race, ethnicity, gender, and everything else that makes us unique.

What are three things that make you unique?

  1. I'm the first engineer in my family.
  2. I'm half Jamaican.
  3. My favorite show is Adventure Time.

What are your career goals?

Start employment at Northrop Grumman!

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?

"For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream." - Vincent Von Gogh

What are your hobbies?

Manga, anime, space, video games, TV shows, coding, learning, and playing outdoors.

What do you enjoy most about engineering?

I love the feeling of solving complex problems, step-by-step.

What is your favorite engineering experience?

Senior projects was a blast!

Anything else you'd like to tell us?

I love The BOLD Center.

What are you up to these days?

Although I’m currently employed full-time with the Northrop Grumman Corporation as a software engineer in Aurora, Colorado, I’m also actually moving to San Diego early January 2018 for a different position at Northrop Grumman! I only know one person out there so it’s an equally exciting and scary process but one I’m glad I get to take.

Do you have any advice for freshman who are pursuing an engineering major?

An engineering degree is probably one of the hardest things you’ll ever work for in life so it’s okay if you struggle. It’s okay that you put in more hours of studying than some of your other friends. It’s okay if you feel like it’s not for you because I know I felt like that. So you can trust me when I say that it’s worth it in the end. Ask for help whenever you can, use all the resources the engineering college and The BOLD Center has to offer, and be sure give your all in every assignment, paper, or test!
