The Trailblazers group developed an automatic trail assessment cart for Quality of Life Plus and Beneficial Designs. TheTrailSense system is designed to gather detailed information about various trails to increase the amount of accessibility information available for trails across the US. The cart system utilizes a microcontroller to process data it receives from various sensors that measure the distance, position and features of the trail's slope. This data is then sent wirelessly over Bluetooth to a tablet, where it is saved as a CSV file and later used to create more detailed maps of trails.
