In today’s world, buildings often face the issue of antenna placement for maximum Wi-Fi signal strength, and by extension, performance. Introducing SASSY: a lightweight, autonomous moving platform whose main purpose is to sense and collect Wi-Fi signal strength data in a given space. Whether it is a large classroom or a small office, SASSY is able to traverse a user defined space, collect the Wi-Fi strength data of that space, and then transfer that data to an easy-to-read heat map, where darker spots indicate areas of greater strength. Using this heat map, users are able to optimize the placement of their Wi-Fi routers or access points in order to improve their overall Wi-Fi connectivity in a given space.
