Limited to CU applicants, there is a current funding opportunity that I hope could be of interest to faculty in Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering. Venture Partners at CU Boulder and the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade are seeking proposals for the Lab Venture Challenge and funding opportunity for translational research projects with strong potential for commercial application. In the fall, the program expects to award 10-12 grants of $125,000 each. In prior years, the funding rate for this program has been quite high, 30%-50%.
The program is interested in forwarding the opportunity to any faculty in ECEE who are working on projects with commercial applications. A full description of the program, including eligibility information, the application process, and a recorded webinar, is available here.
The final deadline for written proposals is September 15, and there are additional deadlines to disclose the associated invention (August 18) and submit a budget to OCG (September 1).
