The K-Band U.S. Tour radiometer addresses the critical issue of identifying radio frequency interference (RFI) disruptive to weather forecasting and other scientific endeavors. Our product is a precision scanning radiometer designed to characterize radio emissions in the key 23.6-24 GHz range. This technology provides unprecedented data crucial for managing RFI in the face of increasing demand for radio spectrum. The radiometer utilizes a traditional filter-bank sensing instrument, with precision of ½ Kelvin and 400 MHz spectral resolution to observe the 23.6 - 24.0 GHz K Band. With specialized skills in radio frequency engineering, MATLAB data processing, and mechanical design, our team has created a mobile platform that will conduct a nationwide field measurement campaign, capturing thermal and anthropogenic emissions in diverse U.S. environments. This project represents the forefront of
scientific exploration, offering students a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research with long-term implications for weather and climate forecasting.
