Problem: Need more ways to simplify and enhance one’s household lighting and how they control the lighting in a room in order to make everyday tasks easier. Our product will help eliminate the tedious and potentially unhealthy action of manually controlling a room’s lights from light switches by replacing it with a more natural and fun gesture-based control interface. Also, standard light switches lack customizable lighting options. Whether the room is pitch black or lit, the user will be able to control their lights with much more customization options than your standard household lights.
Solution: The overall product solution is to have the lights in an area be controlled by the user's hand gestures. Instead using the traditional light switches this product will allow users to control their lights with initially four simple hand gestures. This creates a more natural interface for controlling the lights in a room and allows from more lighting options then the standard light switch can offer. The non-contact characteristic of our lighting system creates an overall healthier and more convenient environment in spaces where the system is installed.
Who needs this product? People who are looking to make their household lighting easier and more convenient to control. Economy buyers such as businesses with high volume multi-purpose rooms and universities with classrooms or dormitories. The non-contact lighting system mitigates both wear and tear on the system and the spread of germs, which are perfect for high volume areas. Individual Buyers would include young households who are passionate about new technologies and enjoy having a house full of convenience creators.
Unique capabilities: Not too much availability of gesture-based human-computer interfaces on the market. This product will be easier to install in comparison to other smart home technologies availability. The system will have customizable lighting options that many other lighting systems on the market do not have such as the ability to change colors and brightness of the lights in a room. These customizable options are just the initial goal of the product/project, however, with excess time there will possibilities of adding more functionalities unique options such as including a light alarm clock, party mode, user gesture customization, etc.
