Evaluation Criteria

The final idea submission is only 1,000 words. So, evaluation team members will look for indications, but not lengthy descriptions, that use the below criteria as a guide for drafting an idea.

Student Centered

Must Have:

  • Does the proposed idea impact undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences?
  • Does the proposed idea integrate A&S undergraduate students as team members or design partners?
  • Does the proposed idea promote active and/or experiential learning?

Nice to Have:

  • Does the proposed idea enable students to develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside of a traditional academic setting?
Boundary Breaking

Must Have:

  • Is the team composed of members from across the college including students, staff, and faculty of varying appointments?
  • Does the proposed idea demonstrate how diverse voices and contributions will be valued on the team?
  • Does the proposed idea envision novel integrations of technology with pedagogy to promote impactful learning?

Nice to Have:

  • Does the proposed idea have the potential to cross disciplinary boundaries?
Actionable

Must Have:

  • Is the proposed idea feasible given current or anticipated technology in the next 3-5 years?
  • Does the proposed idea consider the sustainability of the project over time?
  • Does the proposed idea offer pragmatic ways to realize this vision?

Nice to Have:

  • Does the proposed idea take into account how potential institutional barriers will be navigated on behalf of the project?
Scalable

Must Have:

  • Does the proposed idea demonstrate widespread impact on undergraduate students?
  • Does the proposed idea articulate how the project’s impact will be measured?

Nice to Have:

  • Does the proposed idea have the potential to scale, eventually, across the college?
