Looking for ways to save money on anything from food to a haircut? Lucky for you, there are many free and low-cost deals offered to you by the campus community and city of Boulder.

Free events at The Rec

There are many free events coming up at the Rec Center:

  • Join Free Friday Power Hour every week at 5 p.m. Each week features a different fitness class, including yoga and pilates.
  • Rooftop yoga is happening every Wednesday in April at 9:30 a.m. on the rooftop tennis courts. If the weather is bad, the session will be in Studio 4.
  • May 3–8 is free finals week at The Rec! There will be free fitness classes, ice skating and bouldering/climbing. The Rec will also have conference rooms reserved for studying. Free study supplies and tea will be provided while supplies last.
  • May 3 is also Rec Recess—head to the Rec Center plaza between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for free food, games and more.
  • For Maymester, The Rec will offer free fitness classes and skate rentals May 13–31.

Weekly specials at The Connection

Visit The Connection, a popular hangout hub for students to engage in fun activities and relax. As the only bowling center in Boulder, The Connection features 10 bowling lanes, eight billiards tables, video game consoles (Xbox One, PS4, Wii), pinball and arcade games, a foosball table and a selection of food and beverages available daily. Weekly specials on bowling and billiards are offered!

Free nighttime transportation

Are you tired of spending money on Ubers? Use CU NightRide, Boulder’s very own free nighttime transportation system! Download the mobile TapRide app for Apple or Android to request a ride.

Free ice skating

Grab a pair of ice skates, and come visit the only ice rink in Boulder. Don’t be afraid to show off some of your tricks to fellow Buffs! Free for students if you have your own skates, or you can rent for $2 a day.

Free puppy love

Want to help some cute, furry friends out? Volunteer at the Boulder Humane Society. They are looking for an animal care team to assist in providing care for shelter dogs through kennel cleaning and other cleaning tasks. This is a great opportunity to do good for the community as well as for our fellow furry friends!

If you’re in need of a furry friend to keep you company, the Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue offers a foster-based, volunteer rescue program where you can care for rescued puppies in between adoption events for no cost.
