The Connection Renovation
Beginning August 1, 2019, The Connection will be closed for renovation. The new space will offer the same great recreation options and amenities – plus a few new ones! – in a welcoming and more open environment.
Since it opened in 1953, The Connection has had some minor renovations: new bowling and scoring equipment; aesthetic updates to the walls, floors and ceilings; and remodeling of the Club 156 stage and production platform. The Connection’s popularity for students and the CU Boulder community continues to grow, and we knew it was time to renovate the space, create more open areas for socializing and develop a flexible space for Program Council shows and private parties.
The 2019 renovation will include both The Connection and Club 156. The bowling area will feature new leather booth seating for bowlers. In the lounge, guests will find new furniture, upgraded AV and audio systems, new ping-pong and foosball tables, plus the popular billiards, video game, karaoke, trivia, poker and comedy events. We will continue to offer a full selection of food and beverages.
With the renovation, The Connection will have more square footage for guests to enjoy, whether they want to grab food or a drink with friends or colleagues, study, attend a Program Council concert or have fun at a trivia or karaoke night.
Although the facility will be closed during fall 2019, The Connection will continue to host trivia nights, poker tournaments, karaoke nights, video game tournaments and comedy open mic nights in alternate locations inside the UMC. Visit our Weekly Events page for dates, locations and additional details.
When we re-open in January 2020, The Connection will continue to be a fun, safe and socially inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff and the community to enjoy!
