As we engage in conversations with federal and state representatives, peer institutions, partners, students and the public, one consistent thread is the importance of effectively communicating the impact of our work.

An update on Federal Funding Legislation, Title VI Investigations, Department of Education, Federal Workforce, and Political Appointments and Departures from CU Federal Relations and Counsel.

As campus continues to monitor, respond to, and prepare for the rapidly changing federal landscape, we now also find ourselves facing the all too familiar possibility of a federal government shutdown.

This update includes recent federal activities of interest to CU’s campuses and communities including Department of Education, federal workforce, federal funding freeze, National Institutes of Health (NIH) F&A, Gender Affirming Care, USAID, Termination of Teacher Preparation Grant and the joint address of congress.

For federally funded projects, directly funded by a federal agency or through a subaward to CU Boulder, we recommend PIs take the following actions as soon as possible.

I am writing from Washington, D.C., where I am visiting with elected officials to advocate on behalf of the work we do at the University of Colorado Boulder in particular, and in higher education more broadly.

We would like to update you on new initiatives unveiled by the federal administration this week, as well as implementation of existing directives that impact the federal workforce, which have potential significant implications for CU’s campuses and communities.

Update on recent legal actions relevant to CU’s campuses and communities, including the U.S. District Court of Maryland issued a preliminary injunction on February 21 that blocks the administration from implementing the termination, certification, and enforcement provisions contained in two executive orders, Ending Radical Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity.

As the week concludes, we would like to provide you with recent updates on federal issues of importance to CU’s campuses and communities.
