- The Center for Asian Studies has won $2.2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education to support its role as a National Resource Center in Asian Studies and to provide Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for students at CU Boulder.
- To celebrate the growing partnerships between the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) and Sandia National Laboratory, CEAS's Research Support Office will host Sandia Day 2022—with research presentations, a poster session and networking event—from 2:15–5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 on the first floor of the Gallogly Discovery Learning Center.
- The Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC) facility will host a day-long workshop and training session on Material 3D-Nanofabrication and Characterization from 8 a.m.—5 p.m. on Aug. 9 in the Gallogly Discovery Learning Center.
- The Environmental Data Science Innovation and Inclusion Lab (ESIIL) is a major new NSF-funded data science and diversity effort at CIRES and CU Boulder. The new center will enable work that illuminates the biological impacts of climate change, includes diverse voices and responds to community needs.
- The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) is excited to announce the launch of the third annual Fellowship Writing & Peer Editing Program, facilitated by RIO Proposal Writer/Editor Donna Axel. Faculty are encouraged to attend a brief 30-minute kickoff on Wednesday, July 13 to determine if the program is appropriate for them.
- The University of Colorado Boulder has named Dr. Lori Hunter director of its Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS), which applies leading edge social and behavioral science to inform and influence policies and actions with a national and international impact.
- A new cooperative institute, formally designated the Cooperative Institute for Earth System Research and Data Science, will conduct collaborative research in support of NOAA’s mission to understand and predict Earth’s changing environment, from the deep sea to the outer edge of the atmosphere.
- “It is a pleasure to reappoint Waleed to this role, ensuring his continued leadership of CIRES as an institute whose contributions and activities are important to the university, the nation and the global scientific community,” said Massimo Ruzzene, acting vice chancellor for research and innovation and dean of the institutes at CU Boulder.
- The programs, developed and managed by the Research & Innovation Office (RIO)'s Shared Instrumentation Network, are designed to support and grow the university's core facilities and available instrumentation, as well as the cutting-edge research these tools enable faculty to perform.
- The University of Colorado Boulder has named Dr. Jaelyn Eberle interim director of its University of Colorado Museum of Natural History effective July 1. Eberle was appointed to serve as interim director after an initial search to succeed current director Dr. J. Patrick Kociolek did not result in a hire. Eberle will maintain her academic tenure home in the Department of Geological Sciences.
