New and early-career faculty: Join the Principal Investigator (PI) Academy
RIO and the PI Academy are almost too good to be true! Talking with peers and mentors at other institutions, I have been told to cherish the opportunity I have here; these are some invaluable resources."
—Sandra Ristovska, Associate Professor, Media Studies
[The workshops] are all designed to be an opportunity to learn, ask questions and make connections as you begin building your academic portfolio."
—Oana Luca, Assistant Professor, Chemistry
The PI Academy orients new and early career faculty to research and creative work resources available on campus. Presenters and facilitators actively engage faculty on several core research topics to ensure early investigators are well-positioned to identify, apply for and secure external funding for their research, scholarly and creative endeavors. The program has grown to include more than 100 faculty members representing various departments from across campus.
Those interested in joining the PI Academy should register by Sept. 30. A virtual kickoff will welcome new and returning faculty on October 2 @ 2–3:30 p.m. During this webinar, PI Academy graduates and current and new participants will have the opportunity to get to know each other, ask questions and learn more about the program and upcoming workshops.
Note: The PI Academy provides a deep dive into CU Boulder’s research and creative work ecosystem, setting it apart from Thriving at CU through the Office of Faculty Affairs. We encourage you to look through both programs to ensure you maximize your first few years at CU Boulder.
All faculty: Join the Scholar Learning Community to broaden your impact
The Scholar Learning Community supports investigators, scholar, creators and researchers across the university by building a welcoming and inclusive environment that develops opportunities for interdisciplinary work and increases the capacity of that work to produce broader impacts in society.
The Broader, Research and Societal Impact Workshop Series is supported by the university’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Impact Grant with matching funds from the Research & Innovation Office. Up to 40 participants will receive $250 for participating in at least three workshops in an academic year and for participating in the Scholar Learning Community. Please note that participants are not eligible to receive $250 if they have previously been awarded.
