What Are They?
Official transcripts are comprehensive records of your academic coursework and progress at the University of Colorado that reflect earned degrees as well as credits accepted in transfer or by exam.
Unofficial transcripts contains the same information as official transcripts, but:
- Lack the authenticity features typically required by academic institutions and potential employers
- Include your academic probation information for advising purposes, if applicable

CU is aware of a data breach involving Instructure, the parent company of Parchment, the platform used to generate official transcripts. This reported data breach is a nationwide event affecting multiple institutions. While we have not yet received confirmation on Parchment being affected, out of an abundance of caution, CU has temporarily disabled access to Parchment. Updates will be provided as they are available. We apologize for this inconvenience. Contact the Office of the Registrar with questions.
Current and former students with access to Buff Portal can access their unofficial transcripts directly through the portal.

Transcripts from Other Institutions
CU Boulder is not authorized to provide copies of official transcripts from high schools or other institutions of higher education as those institutions are the sole owners of their official documents.
If your former institution has closed, please review its website for guidance on obtaining an official transcript or consult with the state's Department of Education, on which the institution was based, on how to request your official transcripts from your former institution.
