This week at the College of Music: Community Edition - Feb. 9, 2023

Lírios Quartet

Community engagement

We’re so proud of the amazing Lírios Quartet—the College of Music’s Graduate String Quartet in Residence—who recently visited five schools from Aspen to Glenwood Springs as part of the AMFS Musical Connections program, in addition to visiting AMFS after-school programs and performing a recital at the Basalt Regional Library. Over their two-day residency, the quartet performed for more than 675 students in the Roaring Fork Valley! Photo: Heather Kendrick

  • We’re thrilled for alumnus and Jazz Studies Lecturer Hugh Ragin—trumpeter, flugelhornist, composer and scholar—for being extensively featured in the January 2023 issue of The International Trumpet Guild Journal! Check out the awesome article—“Hugh Ragin: Put Your Own Thing On It”—by Thomas Erdmann.
  • “For the Trees”—a string quartet composed by Associate Professor of Composition Jeffrey Nytch—will be featured in an environment-centered concert with the Playground Ensemble, Feb. 10 at the Denver Botanic Gardens. DMA alumnus Nathan Hall is curating the show!
