youthThe CU Youth Piano Program trains students through weekly, one-hour or half-hour private or group lessons. Instructors are experienced teachers from the CU College of Music, and the program is supervised by the CU Piano Pedagogy Chair, Dr. Alejandro Cremaschi. The lessons provide thorough instruction at the highest and most effective pedagogical standards while providing opportunities for fun, motivation, and enjoyment of music.

Lessons
Lessons are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters at CU. Fall 2012 lessons begin the week of September 4 and will be located in the Imig Music Building.

The lessons include developing skills for:

• Classical and popular pieces

• Reading music

• Healthy techniques

• Ear training and music theory

• Performance opportunities

Group lessons are recommended for absolute beginners ages 6-8, and students ages 9-17 should enroll in one-on-one lessons. New students will have a diagnostic lesson and parent interview during the first meeting with the instructor to determine their level and needs. Students with previous piano background are usually placed in one-on-one lessons.
