International students in F-1 or J-1 status should complete the Immigration Check-In as soon as possible upon admission into the United States but no later than 1/16/24, the start date of classes. Students who are transferring their F-1 SEVIS record to CU Boulder must complete the check-in form within 15 days of their F-1 program start date as reflected on the Form I-20.

  • Failure to complete the immigration check-in process will result in the termination of one’s F-1 or J-1 visa status and the ability to remain in the United States with valid F-1 or J-1 status.

The immigration check-in process and e-form should be completed by:

  • New international students after their initial entry to the U.S.,
  • SEVIS transfer students before their first semester at CU Boulder, and
  • International students returning to CU Boulder on a new I-20 or DS-2019 after a leave of absence.

Continuing students returning from international travel do not need to complete the immigration check-in process and e-form.
