Research in integrated circuits and systems in the CU Boulder Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering is focused on the grand challenge in today’s and future integrated systems, which simultaneously require high performance, high power efficiency, miniaturized size and low cost.

Our work involves modeling, optimization, circuit design (using Cadence, ADS, AWR, HFSS and other state-of-the-art tools), fabrication, prototyping, system integration and experimentation in a wide range of technologies (CMOS, SiGe, GaN) and applications, including:

  • Integrated power converters, power management and control for data centers, microprocessors, mobile, home, electric vehicle and other applications
  • Energy-efficient power amplifiers and power management for wireless communications
  • Miniaturized adaptive RF passive components (filters, power dividers/combiners, phase shifters, matching networks) for next-generation wireless communication transceivers
  • Low-power circuits for biomedical implants, energy harvesting and "Internet of Things" devices
