Dragan Maksimovic received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Belgrade (Serbia, Yugoslavia), and his PhD degree from the California Institute of Technology. In 1992, he joined the Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering, where he is currently a Charles V. Schelke Endowed Professor. In 1998, he co-founded the Colorado Power Electronics Center (CoPEC), and has since served as the CoPEC co-director. Maksimovic is also affiliated with the University of Colorado Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute. He is a fellow of the IEEE and has published more than 250 papers in journals and at professional conferences, and holds more than 30 U.S. patents. He received an NSF CAREER Award in 1997, the CU Boulder Inventor of the Year Award in 2006 and several teaching awards from the department and university, including the 2013 Boulder Faculty Assembly Excellence in Teaching Award.
