Cars are parked during Move In 2016

On Thursday, May 9, the university will honor the class of 2019 during the spring commencement ceremony, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Folsom Field.

Multiple department recognition ceremonies will follow on May 9, 10 and 11 at Macky Auditorium, the CU Events Center, Business Field, University Memorial Center, Recreation Center and numerous additional locations around campus. As always, it is sure to be a day filled with excitement and appreciation as the campus community celebrates graduates and their families.

With all the activity and influx of visitors during a busy week, there will be traffic and parking impacts along Boulder roadways, on campus and in parking areas.

To help reduce these impacts, the campus encourages employees who have the ability to do so to explore transportation alternatives or other work options (in coordination with supervisors).

Some options to consider may be:

  • Alternative transportation: Includes walking and biking, or riding the bus to campus. If there is no bus route near you, your EcoPass allows you to drive to a Park-n-Ride, where you can ride to/from campus by bus. For help in planning your bus commute, review RTD’s trip planner and Park-n-Ride pages. Note that road congestion and the closure of Colorado Ave. west of Regent and 18th Street south to Euclid will create bus reroutes that may impact the Marine Street Express and routes 209, 209G and J. CU Boulder campus passengers will be accommodated at the 18th and Euclid Stop.
  • Carpool with others: Plan now to ride-share with other employees who live near you.
  • Remote opportunities: Employees who are not participating in commencement activities and whose work is conducive to telecommuting should immediately speak with their supervisor to make arrangements.
  • Use accrued leave. Employees who want to use leave should plan this option with their supervisors.
  • Arrive prior to 7 a.m. If you arrive after this time please know that parents, students and guests will be placed in main campus parking lots and there may not be parking spaces available for permit holders.
  • Get a courtesy shuttle lift, with service in 15-minute intervals between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.:
    • Regent Shuttle: Lot 436/Regent Parking Garage, the Buffalo Walk, Technology Learning Center, Center for Community/Regent Hall and CU Events Center
    • Discovery Express: SEEC building, Space Science, Biotech, Buffalo Walk

Permit holders will receive email notifications in early May from Parking Services if there are parking impacts specific to their lot for commencement day activities.
