Monday, October 14
State of the Research and Innovation Enterprise
11–11:45 a.m., lunch to follow Sustainability, Energy and Environment Community (SEEC) Building, Room C120 Free event; registration required
As a Tier 1 public research university that attracted $684 million in research funding last year, CU Boulder has a thriving ecosystem of research, scholarship and creative work. In this hour-long talk, Massimo Ruzzene, vice chancellor for research and innovation and dean of the institutes, will share significant metrics, trends, insights and aspirations from the university’s research and innovation enterprise. He’ll also provide a closer look at some of CU Boulder’s unique offerings and accomplishments from the past year.
Attendees are invited to stay after the event for lunch, from 12–1 p.m.

Graduate Student Dialogue on Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship

Join us for presentations in roundtable and short-talk formats, dialogue about community-engaged and public scholarship, light refreshments and good company!
Graduate students will share their research, creative work and teaching that engages with communities. They will share about their projects and experiences with other graduate students, interested faculty, staff and undergraduate students.

Unlocking Translational Research Funding

Join Venture Partners at CU Boulder for an insightful discussion on translational research funding. Explore how the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps programming offered by CU Boulder serves as a critical launchpad for securing funding, including SBIR/STTR grants, Partnerships for Innovation (PFI) and support from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT).

Faculty Fellows TED-Style Talks

The Research & Innovation Office (RIO) Faculty Fellows will present short, captivating TED-style talks in the Gordon Gamm Theater, located at the Dairy Arts Center. Catch a glimpse of the leading edge of research, scholarship and creative work from a selection of CU Boulder's leading faculty and researchers, representing disciplines across the spectrum, from computer science and chemistry to applied mathematics and media studies.
Attendees may arrive early or linger following the talks to network with colleagues and friends or explore the Dairy's art exhibits and galleries. Food and beverages are available for purchase.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Sidewalk Symposium

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)'s Sidewalk Symposium invites undergraduates to create and share their research and creative presentations with chalk on campus walkways—all in collaboration with a professional artist. UROP welcomes undergraduates at any stage of their project timeline to participate in this year's Sidewalk Symposium by creating colorful visual presentations of their projects using nothing but chalk.

2024 Sustainability Hackathon Kickoff

Join us and learn how to register your team and build ideas as we kickoff the weeklong 2024 Sustainability Hackathon competition!
The 2024 Sustainability Hackathon provides the opportunity to “hack” some of the sustainability issues our society is facing. Your solution to a problem could include technology or have no technology at all. The key is coming together with others who are passionate about solving problems, teaming up on a solution idea, and having fun in the process of building something to have an impact on the world. Thousands of dollars in prize money will be awarded!
Agenda:
- 6–7 p.m. ► Learn about registering teams, competition guidelines, and potential projects.
- 7–8 p.m. ► Idea Builder: Participants form teams and build ideas with mentors (industry partners and tech industry and startup ecosystem leaders).
- 8 p.m. ► The Hackathon officially starts!
