USAID Higher Education Activity in Malawi Solicitation
Program Summary
The higher education activity objective is to increase the skilled, employable workforce in Malawi with emphasis on educating Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW). This will be achieved by three intermediate results (IRs), as seen in the activity results framework, which are to:
- increase equitable access to higher education especially for vulnerable populations (girls, youth in rural areas--students, especially girls, graduating from community day secondary schools, and youth with special needs),
- increase access to quality distance learning and short-term training, and
- improve bridging to employment by linking education and training to labor market needs as well as improving the entrepreneurship and business skills of youth so that they are better able to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
This activity will be delivered predominantly through partnerships with Malawian public universities, select secondary schools, and public and private sector employers (formal or informal).
