Senior Research Officer Cassandra Moseley leads Colorado State University’s research, discovery, and creative artistry portfolio. Moseley oversees CSU’s research enterprise, including over $576 million in sponsored projects in 2024. She guides CSU’s strategic trajectory of growth not only in sponsored research but in publications, innovations, commercialization, and public and private partnerships that have a regional and worldwide impact.  

Moseley came to CSU in 2024 from the University of Oregon, where she served as a faculty member and research leader for more than 20 years. Additionally, she has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers in natural resource policy, rural community well-being, climate resilience and wildfire. She is a professor at CSU in the Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship. As an engaged scholar, she testified before Congress multiple times and has collaborated with community leaders and federal land managers. Moseley chaired the USDA Forestry Research Advisory Council, which advises the Secretary of Agriculture about forestry research priorities. 

She earned her Ph.D. in political science from Yale University and her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and government from Cornell University.
