What the Nominators Said About Greg

Greg is deeply committed to his responsibilities. Through his commitment to transparency, collaboration, and excellence, he has fostered a culture committed to program and fiscal integrity. The clarity of his guidance enables faculty and staff to maintain focus on their research and teaching responsibilities. Greg’s thorough knowledge of campus policy helps him to function as an essential bridge among University fiscal departments, faculty and RIO research compliance areas including Office of Contracts and Grants, Office of Research Integrity, Conflicts of Interest and Commitment, Export Controls and the Campus Misconduct Advisory Group.

Before and during our campus adjustment to a new remote work environment, Greg has:

  • Seamlessly maintained a commitment to strong fiscal oversight;
  • Promoted communication, trust and integrity among his colleagues in the workplace;
  • Precisely identified, documented and resolved the root of fiscal matters at issue;
  • Offered solutions that are ethical and empathetic;
  • Valued input from his colleagues in RIO, and exhibited a willingness to support others whenever possible;
  • Demonstrated a strong spirit of cooperation and collaboration.

Greg’s leadership, compliance insight and core values have been especially helpful as CU Boulder staff navigate the complex rules and regulations applicable to the university, including those incorporated into sponsored research agreements and those imposed by the Department of Education on all institutions of higher education. Many times this requires a coordinated effort among RIO’s offices, the Office of University Counsel and CCO. It is through this partnership – strongly supported by, and not infrequently led by, Greg, that we are able to better support our researchers. We truly appreciate having such a strong partner on our campus.
