NIH Training Grant Resources

The National Institutes for Health recently published an announcement for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grant (Parent T32).

To support the intensive level of data needed for these grants, the Research & Innovation Office (RIO) convened a meeting with the Office of Institutional Research (IR) and other campus stakeholders. Below are details on the existing process. If you are interested in applying to this opportunity, we strongly encourage you make contact with Rob Stubbs (robert.stubbs@colorado.edu) in IR as soon as possible.

Existing Process

  • Investigator identifies specific training grant they are seeking (i.e., T32, T35, R25)
  • RIO/Units/Investigators inform IR (Rob Stubbs) of interest in applying at least 2 months in advance of deadline
  • IR will arrange a meeting to review and discuss data needs and receive information from unit (i.e., employee IDs, student IDs)
    • IR support includes gathering data on students; employees/faculty; grant/analytics
  • IR compiles requested information and provides initial data to unit typically within 1-2 weeks
  • Units tweak based on unit-level information and returns to IR for finalizing
  • Although not current practice, IR can assist with post-award reporting as well
