This Week at the College of Music: Community Edition - Jan. 19, 2023

Tia Fuller

Happy New Year!

CU Boulder at the CMEA Annual Clinic/Conference: Coming up, we’re excited to participate in the annual Colorado Music Educators Association conference, Jan. 25-28, and we’re thrilled that Denver native and College of Music alumna Tia Fuller is this year’s keynote speaker! Several College of Music faculty will present, and the CU Boulder Chamber Singers and University Choir will perform … immediately followed by our always-successful alumni reception.

Noteworthy

  • In caring community: Chas Wetherbee
  • The Boulder Philharmonic just lost one of its own. Now, they are dedicating a special concert to him (CPR News): Join us for this musical tribute to our beloved Chas Wetherbee in an afternoon concert on Jan. 22, featuring our Assistant Professor of Violin Alex Gonzalez. As well, our next Faculty Tuesdays recital on Jan. 24 will feature Professor of Piano David Korevaar in a program presented in memory of Chas Wetherbee. Find more tributes to Wetherbee here, and may we forever find comfort and inspiration in his extraordinary music making.
  • Edward Dusinberre on music and performing: Dusinberre’s new book—Distant Melodies: Music in Search of Home—focuses on four composers, discussing their lives and what “home” might mean to them ... and to Dusinberre himself, having lived in England and the United States.
  • In case you missed it on social media, check out the amazing CU Boulder Trumpet Ensemble in their latest video project featuring an arrangement of Debussy’s “The Girl with Flaxen Hair” by our own Professor of Trumpet Ryan Gardner!
