Aaron Tindall (DMA Tuba) wins Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition

Aaron Tindall (DMA tuba student) won the concerto competition at the Aspen Music Festival and performed R. Vaughn-Williams’ Concerto for Bass Tuba July 28th in the Benedict Music Tent at the Aspen music Festival. Before the performance he gave a live radio broadcast with Warren Deck, former principal tuba of the New York Philharmonic and John Rojack, bass trombone with the American Brass Quintet on KAJX (Aspen Public Radio).

Faculty CD Release: Dusinberre & Korevaar

Faculty members Edward Dusinberre, violin and David Korevaar, piano have just released a new recording of Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas Nos. 9 “Kreutzer” & 10 on Decca. This recording was funded by grants from the Council on Research and Creative Work and from the Graduate Committee on the Arts and Humanities at the University of Colorado. The recording can be ordered from Presto Classical.

AMRC 2011 in Review

The American Music Research Center’s annual advisory board retreat Saturday, July 17 was an opportunity for AMRC staff and board members to discuss future plans and recap the year’s events. This past year has been an eventful one at the AMRC, including the following highlights:

Panoramic Flutist Seminar 2010

July 9, 2010

The 2010 Panoramic Flutist Seminar was held June 1-4 at CU. 44 flutists from the US, Mexico, France, Korea, and New Zealand were in attendance. Flute faculty included CU’s Christina Jennings, Rice University Full Professor Leone Buyse, and Jean Ferrandis- the extraordinary International soloist. Margaret McDonald and David Korevaar were the seminar’s amazing pianists.
