As the college welcomed in four new faculty members, students, faculty and staff said goodbye to two long-time members of the Boulder music community this spring.
Associate Professor of Trumpet Terry Sawchuk
Professor Sawchuk came to the College of Music in 1982. Over an impressive career spanning several decades, Sawchuk has performed with the Colorado Symphony, Central City Opera Orchestra, Colorado Ballet Orchestra, and countless jazz and commercial artists. As an educator, Sawchuk has given master classes across the country and served as an adjudicator and board member for the International Trumpet Guild.
Professor of Ethnomusicology Brenda Romero
Dr. Romero has served on the Musicology faculty at the College of Music since 1988. The renowned ethnomusicologist has focused her research and performance on the pantomimed Matachines music and dance and other folk music genres that reflect both Spanish and Native American origins. She has twice conducted research with the help of Fulbright grants, in Colombia and Mexico. Read more about Romero's career >>
Congratulations and thank you to Dr. Romero and Professor Sawchuk!
