Alex GonzalezThe College of Music’s Faculty Tuesdays concert series has long been a platform for students, faculty and community members to gather and enjoy heart- and mind-opening musical performances … for free.

This week in Grusin Music Hall, Assistant Professor of Violin Alex Gonzalez will treat fans of Faculty Tuesdays to a diverse program with collaborators Margaret McDonald and Alexandra Nguyen—both associate professors of collaborative piano—featuring works by Philip Glass, Ahmed Adnan Saygun, Daniel Kidane, Missy Mazzoli and Richard Strauss.

“In putting together the program for this recital, my main objective was to introduce myself to the local community,” shares Gonzalez, who joined the College of Music faculty this fall. “With that in mind, I chose pieces that I love to play, pieces that I’ve always wanted to play and pieces that I thought represented my musical personality.

“I hope to bring something fresh to the community at large.”

He adds, “This wonderful concert series allows the faculty to show our individuality in style and interests, and I’m excited to share my perspective in my first Faculty Tuesdays recital this week!

“I feel really lucky to be a part of a faculty that is full of incredible performers.”
