Sikkil Gurucharan, the Grammy Award-nominated singer and ambassador for the classical south Indian Carnatic music tradition, will join CU-Boulder based Sands Around Infinity March 21 concert that blends East and West in exciting new ways.

Sands Around Infinity is Paul Erhard, professor of double-bass at the College of Music, and his sons Jeffrey Erhard (vocals) and Robert Erhard, cello. Both Gurucharan and Paul Erhard are scholars under the Fulbright-Nehru Professional Excellence Program.

Strings Around Voice: A Classical Story, "celebrates the idea of the Fulbright endeavor, which is to increase the mutual understanding between musicians from India and America," Erhard says. The event will feature not only music, but also a discussion of "the ways that the styles of Indian Carnatic music—South Indian classical—and Western music can fuse and blend in exciting, innovative ways," he says.

The concert is being presented by the Colorado Fine Arts Association
