The Faculty Leadership Institute (FLI) is a program that helps identify, foster and support emerging leaders as they prepare to further their leadership trajectory. The Faculty Leadership Institute offers each cohort the opportunity to engage with campus leaders in targeted discussions regarding current campus issues and build leadership skills. Since its inception in 2013, FLI has had over 150 fellows.

A group of 12-15 faculty members are chosen to make up the new leadership class each year. Monthly meetings throughout the academic year focus on two types of activities:

  • Meetings with campus leadership: During these meetings, leaders explain their role in the university, share their leadership path, and engage in an open conversation on topics of concern to the faculty.
  • Leadership skill development: Opportunities for leadership training are provided through workshops taught by certified experts throughout the year.

FLI cohort 2023-2024While formal meetings of the leadership cohort occur monthly, informal get-togethers occurring more frequently are encouraged and build upon the relationships between participants.

Faculty members interested in participating should complete an application form during the annual application period in the spring semester.  Preference is given to Associate Professors and Senior Instructors, although all ranks are welcome to apply.  For questions about this program, please contact Anu Sharma, Faculty Fellow for the Faculty Leadership Insititute.

Applications for the 2024-25 are now open, submit your application by April 28, 2024.
