Hello, and welcome to the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) website. It is my great honor to serve the University of Colorado Boulder as the Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. I have been a faculty member at CU Boulder for 20 years, in the School of Education. Grounded in philosophy, I study college access and equityacademic freedommoral disagreement, and the politics and ethics of democratic education.

Born and raised in New York in a multicultural, immigrant family, my background as a first-generation Latina informs my research, my teaching, and my work as vice chancellor. In this role, I aim to advocate for our faculty, represent faculty interests across campus and the University of Colorado System, support faculty members and academic leaders individually and collectively, and foster a valued and inclusive faculty community.

Faculty are the heart of the university. The dedicated staff members and faculty fellows in our office work hard every day to help faculty from the moment they are recruited to CU Boulder to the day they retire and beyond. Faculty Affairs’ programs, processes, and initiatives encompass important areas such as:

  • faculty hiring, promotion, and other personnel actions;
  • new faculty and academic leader orientations;
  • professional and career development, leadership development, and mentoring initiatives to support tenured and tenure-track, teaching professor series, clinical, and in-residence faculty;
  • faculty diversity and equity;
  • faculty awards and achievement;
  • data collection on faculty research, creative work, teaching, librarianship, and public scholarship; and
  • fostering recognition of faculty members internally, nationally, and internationally for their art, leadership, performance, research, scholarship, and teaching.

The OFA website is designed to serve as a source for news, events, updates and information related to faculty concerns, education, and good works, as well as campus policies, all in one helpful, convenient location. I hope that you find the site useful and informative.
