During the registration process, you will be asked to accept the terms of the Tuition and Fee Agreement and Disclosure. When you enroll in IEC classes, you are responsible for payment of tuition and fees.

In addition to tuition, you must pay the mandatory student fees. These fees include the IEC Student Fee, Health & Wellness Campus Care, Health & Wellness Student Health Center Fee, Health & Wellness Mental Health Resource Fee, and the Student Bus & Bike Program Fee.

Dates & Prices

  • Tuition is due on the first day of class unless otherwise noted.

You can safely and securely view and pay your bill online using your Buff Portal account. Follow the instructions below to find your billing information online.

  1. Visit buffportal.colorado.edu and enter your IdentiKey and password.
  2. Click on the Menu  tab in the upper left corner.
  3. Select the Tuition & Fees tab.
  4. Select View/ Pay Bill
  5. Select the CU Boulder Continuing Education Tuition and Fees tab.

United States Bank Account

You may pay through Buff Portal using an eCheck or credit card. We encourage payment from a checking or savings account to avoid a nonrefundable 2.85% service fee for all credit and debit card payments.

International Bank Account

You may pay online in the currency of your choice using Flywire. This service converts international funds to U.S. dollars and directly transfers the payment to the IEC.

Pay with Flywire

A third party billing is when you have a scholarship or sponsorship from your government, college, agency or employer. You must provide a Financial Guarantee to Accounting Services so your tuition can be billed to the third party sponsor. You are responsible for payment if the sponsoring party does not pay the total amount due.

You may be eligible to pay your tuition and fees in an installment plan over the course of a specified time period. A payment plan is a good option if you are waiting for the transfer of funds from your home country to a U.S. bank account. A minimum payment of $500 and completion of a Payment Plan Agreement is required to start a payment plan. Buff Portal payment plans are not available to IEC students at this time. You cannot register for the next session until your entire balance is paid in full.

Contact Accounting Services for more information about payment plans.

  • The last day to receive a 60% refund is Day 10 of a session.
  • The last day to receive a 40% refund is Day 14 of a session.
  • No refunds will be issued after Day 14 of a session.

For the 4-week session, the following policies are used to determine the refund amount:

  • The last day to receive a 100% refund is day 2 of session classes.
  • No refunds will be issued after day 2 of session classes.

If you are dismissed from the IEC because you did not follow the center’s policies and procedures, you will not receive any refunds for tuition, fees, residence halls, or IEC Bear Creek Apartments.

Residence Hall Refunds

If you are living in a residence hall and you choose to stop studying before the end of the session, you must vacate your room and check out of the residence hall. You may receive a pro-rated refund based on the number of days lived in the residence hall as well as the number of meals consumed. A cancellation penalty of $200 will also be charged. In some cases, the residence hall security deposit is forfeited.

IEC Bear Creek Apartment Refunds

If you are staying in an IEC Bear Creek apartment and you choose to stop studying before the end of the session, you must vacate your apartment and check out of the building. You may receive a pro-rated refund based on the number of days lived in the apartment. A cancellation penalty of $200 will also be charged.
