Health Insurance Options
If you are a sponsored student, you must show evidence of health insurance. Please check with your sponsor to confirm your insurance coverage and detailed information.
International Student Insurance (ISO)

o Daily Rate: Ranges from $2.63 to $4.47/day depending on age; minimum purchase is 90 days.
International Student Insurance

o Online Enrollment: https://www.internationalstudentinsurance.com/student-health-insurance/
o Daily Rate: Ranges from $1.02 to $6.02/day depending on age; minimum purchase is 60 days.
CU Gold SHIP (Student Health Insurance Plan)
o Plan Name: CU Gold SHIP
o Online Enrollment: Complete the Mandatory Health Insurance form or email delano.suddith@colorado.edu
o Daily Rate: $13.26/day
Health Insurance Plan Coverage Requirements
- Essential health benefits: Plans must comply with essential health benefits as outlined on healthcare.gov.
- Colorado coverage: If you are an out-of-state student, please contact your insurance carrier to confirm coverage in Colorado.
- Coverage time frame: Coverage must be active on the first day of classes and remain active throughout the academic year.
- US-based company: The insurance company must be owned and operated within the United States.
- Unlimited benefits: There is no limit or cap on the amount of money the insurance plan will pay in total benefits per year.
Pre-existing condition limits: Plans cannot have pre-existing condition limitations.

How to Submit Proof of Health Insurance
- All full-time International English Center students must show evidence of comprehensive insurance plan coverage by the first day of orientation.
- Students who do not show evidence of coverage by the first day of orientation will automatically be enrolled in CU Gold Student Health Insurance Plan.
How to Submit Proof of Health Insurance
Students must submit the Evidence of Health Insurance Form to the IEC by email, fax, or in person, and upload a copy of their insurance card to the mycuhealth portal or email insurancecard@colorado.edu.

BuffCare Supplement Coverage
Program Overview
Students with private health insurance can enroll in BuffCare to help cover out-of-pocket expenses for on-campus services provided by Medical Services. There is no limit for covered services.
BuffCare covers expenses for:
- Co-pays
- Coinsurance
- Deductibles
- Out-of-network costs
Please note: BuffCare does not replace insurance and can only be used for services received at Wardenburg Health Center after your primary insurance has been billed. If you have a lapse in health insurance coverage, BuffCare cannot be used.
Cost
BuffCare is available to purchase for $270 per semester.
Meeting the Immunization Requirement
- Log in to the MyCUHealth patient portal with your Identikey username and password.
- Click on the Immunizations tab.
- Scroll down to the middle of the page and click on Required Immunizations bar.
- Enter the dates of your first and second dose of the MMR vaccine as they appear on your immunization record.
- Click Submit.
- Next, click on the Upload tab near the top right corner to upload a copy of your record.
- In the dropdown menu select "Immunization Record", select your file and then click Upload. Once you’ve successfully uploaded your file, you will see the file listed under "Documents already on file." You can view this document at any time.
- Finally, click on the Forms tab at the top of the page to complete the Immunization Questionnaire:
- Students 18 or older: On the Forms page, complete the "New Student Immunization Questionnaire"
- For students under 18: Scroll down the Forms page to the "Downloadable Forms" section to print a copy of the "New Student Immunization Questionnaire." This questionnaire must be completed by a parent or guardian. It should then be uploaded under the "Upload Tab" in MyCUHealth as an "Immunization Record." This can be done either by uploading a scanned copy of the form or by taking a photo of the form with a smartphone and uploading the photo.
