Ted and DanA patent for technology used to stabilize freeze-dried vaccines to withstand temperature extremes has been awarded to ChBE Professors Ted Randolph and Dan Schwartz. This technology has applications in developing-world vaccination, as well as biodefense.

The CU Technology Transfer Office began prosecuting this family of patents, which includes multiple issued and pending patents in the U.S. and internationally, in 2007. The patent (U.S. 8,808,710, “Method of Preparing An Immunologically-Active Adjuvant-Bound Dried Vaccine Composition”) was issued on August 19, 2014.

CU Anschutz School of Pharmacy Professor John Carpenter and former ChBE research assistant Amber Clausi are also inventors on this patent.
