Bragging rights: Rocky Mountain Showdown
Bragging rights in Colorado for the next 364 days will be up for grabs Friday night when Colorado and Colorado State square off in the Rocky Mountain Showdown, one of the oldest college football rivalries in the Rocky Mountain West.
New internship program places students in Japan
Students enrolled in a new internship program run by the Center for Asian Studies at CU Boulder get real-world job experience and cultural immersion in Japan. Look for details on an information session in November. The center is currently identifying employers who will host student interns next summer. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2017.
Coming to your solar system soon: A rendezvous with an asteroid
NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission, set for launch Sept. 8 and which involves CU Boulder researchers, is designed to snag a sample from the surface of a near-Earth asteroid for study. The spacecraft will fly more than 1 billion miles in two years before reporting for duty at the asteroid known as Bennu.
CU Boulder to receive two governor’s awards for high-impact research
Among the state’s four winners of this year’s Governor’s Award for High-Impact Research are the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) and the JILA physics institute, both at CU Boulder. The award, administered by the CO-LABS consortium, celebrates the groundbreaking work of scientists and engineers from Colorado’s federal research labs.

Eco Engage Events Program to launch Sept. 10
Join the CU Environmental Center as it launches the new Eco-Engage Events Program on Saturday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program's first excursion will take students on a tour of sustainable and local food systems on campus and in Boulder, including CU dining, the Boulder Farmers' Market, Boulder Food Rescue and two local organic farms. The deadline to enroll is Sept. 6.
Promoting women in tech, now from the White House
From Boulder to Washington D.C., Ruthe Farmer is making it possible for women of all ages to get involved with technology — one student at a time.
