If you weren’t able to attend the last Involvement Fair, or missed out on talking with a student organization you want to join, don’t worry! You have opportunities to join student organizations and get involved all semester long. Here are some tips to get involved and connect with fellow Buffs this spring.
Browse through BuffConnect
With more than 500 student organizations and recognized social fraternities and sororities on campus, there’s something for everyone. Use the power of BuffConnect to explore your interests and help narrow down your search.
An easy way to explore all the student organizations at CU Boulder is by searching through categories. There are student organizations in all of the following categories:
- Academic
- Recreation and wellness
- Business and entrepreneurship
- Cultural and international
- Social
- Environmental
- Social justice and activism
- Religion and spirituality
- Art, music and entertainment
- Community service
- And more!
You can also search organizations by using different topics or keywords, or view the entire list alphabetically. Start by searching some of your favorite hobbies or interests, or search by skills or talents you’d like to explore.
Attending campus events and activities is another great way to get involved and meet fellow Buffs! There are many free events hosted by CSI to fit your interests and schedule, including:
- I Love Mondays weekly drop-ins
- Buffalo Nites social events
- Pinterest & Popcorn craft nights
- Ralphie’s Cooking Basics cooking classes
Space at events is limited, so arrive early!
Don’t be afraid to reach out
Student organizations are run by students, just like you, who want to connect with others who share similar interests. When you find an organization on BuffConnect you’d like to join, you can view their contact information, social media accounts and meeting times by clicking their BuffConnect profile. Send them an email or check out their social media page to ask about joining.
Try it out
If you’re interested in a student organization, attend one of their meetings to meet other members and see what it’s like. It’s OK to go to a meeting and decide it’s not the right fit for you. Just because you attend one meeting or program does not mean you have to join.
Consider different roles
Student organizations offer many leadership opportunities, but it’s important to balance your academics with involvement. Being a general member of a student organization can be a great way to stay involved while leaving time for other commitments.
