The call for proposals is expected to fund one large research initiative at approximately $1 million per year for three to five years and one or two smaller projects at $250,000 per year for three to five years.

Submissions can have direct and strong ties to existing Grand Challenge projects or represent new and complementary additions to the Grand Challenge portfolio. Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria: innovation, transforming our campus, sustainability and impact.

Proposals are due Saturday, July 1. They will be evaluated by a panel including both internal and external members, including academic, industry and government perspectives. Selections will be announced in early August, with funding to start Sept. 1.
