Academic advising

Your success at CU Boulder depends on the experience you design for yourself. Part of the college experience, whether you're a freshman or a senior, is gaining independence in your academic and personal life. Don't worry, you're not alone! Your advisor can help you grow your independence by providing guidance and insight on your academic path, while also connecting you to on-campus resources.

Tips on what independence looks like:

  • Be your own best advocate. Talk to your RA or advisor for guidance.
  • Independence can be scary. Feeling overwhelmed or confused is common among college students of all ages. We have resources for you: Student Resources.
  • Being independent includes stepping out of your comfort zone. Explore new academic interests, friendships, student groups and activities. Getting involved.

Academic reminder: Finalize your fall schedule

Your academic journey at CU Boulder is largely the courses that you take, so careful planning is important. Here are some things to keep in mind:

  • The last day to add a course in your MyCUInfo account is Wednesday, Aug. 31, by 11:59 p.m.
  • Check your degree audit to ensure courses are applying to your degree as you had intended.
  • Does your course schedule align with your goals and other time commitments?
  • Do you have the preparation necessary to be successful in each of your courses?

It’s not too late to make adjustments so that your schedule is the best fit it can be. See your advisor if you have any questions. Drop-in hours are Mondays 1 to 3 p.m.
