Recent Wind Symphony rehearsals leveraged the incredible technology in our new Ensemble Room, part of the Imig Music Building expansion (join us for the ground-breaking tomorrow, Sept. 17, beginning at 11 a.m.!). According to Director of Bands Donald J. McKinney, Associate Professor of Music Composition and Theory Xi Wang (pictured) at Southern Methodist University joined us from Dallas, Texas, to provide live feedback to our student musicians on their performance of her piece “Winter Blossom.” Additionally, composer Carlos Simon joined us from Maryland where he's an assistant professor at Georgetown University; he offered insights to our students on their performance of his piece “Sweet Chariot.” Both works will be performed by the Wind Symphony tonight, Sept. 16, when they share the stage with the Symphonic Band at Macky Auditorium. • Entrepreneurship Center for Music Learning Lunch: help us inaugurate the new ECM Conference Room (S-131) at noon today, Sept. 16, in conversation with alumnus Aakash Mittal. Come have some pizza and chat with Aakash about his career path … and secrets to his success!
• On Sept. 17, the campus community is excited to bring together the classes of 2020 and 2021—which did not have in-person commencement ceremonies—for a free, celebratory event. Learn more about Night on Norlin!
• Peak to Peak Webinar Concert Series: the Program in Jewish Studies—in collaboration with the College of Music—is offering three webinar concerts + discussions this fall. Coming up on Sept. 20: Contemporary Klezmer Music and Yiddish Song. Learn more and register.
• As the final event in a virtual residency that includes rehearsals with the CU Boulder Wind Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestra, the College of Music will host composer Carlos Simon for an open forum on Sept. 24, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Join in via Zoom.
• Important dates: the deadline for undergraduate students to apply for the spring term is Oct. 1 and all auditions for spring must be completed by Nov. 15. 
• Buff One Read: join the campus-wide exploration of what it means to be American through the engaging narratives in America Ferrera's collection "American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures."

• Health + Wellness at the College of Music: join us for an in-person town hall on Sept. 20, 11:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. (Grusin). Meet your health and wellness representatives, including from CU Boulder's Health Promotion office and the Office of Victims Assistance; and express your needs and help craft the scope of wellness programming for the year.
• Stay informed about COVID-19 protocols on campus. Masks are required in public indoor spaces on the CU Boulder campus, regardless of vaccination status.
• Buff Pantry: for CU Boulder students who are experiencing food insecurity
