With some 32 years’ experience as an instrumental music teacher in public schools, alumnus Ed Cannava (BME ’77, MME ’80, PhD ’94) is ideally poised to serve band directors as an adjudicator, clinician, conductor and consultant. “It’s been a great journey,” says the erstwhile transfer student from Long Island who holds fond memories of completing his education at the College of Music. • Music played over old silent films will be available to everyone after CU digitizes it (9News): We love this video news coverage featuring our American Research Center’s collaboration with CU Libraries and the Silent Film Sound and Music Archive to create a comprehensive digital archive of the Grauman Theatre Scores Collection ... including some 3,854 silent film orchestral scores and an additional 192,700 preservation images.
• The McNair Scholars Program Application—supporting first-generation college students with financial need and members of groups traditionally underrepresented in graduate education—is open through Jan. 30, 2022 for the 22-23 academic year.
