Summer spotlights
Developing the universal musician at CU Boulder: The summer issue of the Coloradan alumni magazine featured Dean Davis in a leadership Q&A. Get to know our dean—the experiences that shaped him, the philosophy that drives him and the purpose that inspires him.
In May, the CU Boulder Office for Public + Community-Engaged Scholarship shone the spotlight on Associate Professor David Rickels’ Middle School Ensembles (MSE) program which is made possible in part through support from the Hoover Fund for Music Education, as well as grants from the CU Boulder Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program and the Office for Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship. The program is also supported by the CU Boulder collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
In July, Associate Professor of Music Education Kelly Parkes virtually presented her research paper—“Evaluations of music faculty in higher education: Post-pandemic sustainability”—at the 36th World Conference of the International Society of Music Education.
Also in July, Associate Professor of Oboe Jim Brody—founder and director of our Musicians’ Wellness Program—and embedded psychotherapist to the College of Music Matt Tomatz presented workshops at the 42nd annual Performing Arts Medicine Association international symposium; as well as the 36th International Society for Music Education world conference.
