New Employee Welcome Experience (NewX)
The New Employee Welcome Experience (NewX) is a day-long in-person program for new employees to learn about the history of CU Boulder, participate in a walking and bus tour of campus, and interact with campus leadership.
General Info
- 9:00-10:00 Introductions, CU Boulder history and structure overview (UMC)
- 10:00-12:00 Main campus walking tour with visits to Wardenburg Health and Art Museum
- 12:00-1:00 Lunch at Alferd Packer Grill sponsored by Elevations Credit Union (Alferd Packer Grill)
- 1:00-1:30 Executive Leadership Meet n’ Greet and Q&A (Regent Lobby)
- 1:30-2:30 East Campus and Research Park bus tour
- 2:30-3:00 Aerospace Engineering student-led tour
- 3:00-3:15 Return to UMC
We will start our tour in the University Memorial Center (UMC) Room 386. If you enter the UMC from the south entrance head up the stairs or elevator to floor 3, take a right, and you'll find Room 386 down the long hallway. If you enter the UMC from the North or East Entrance take the grand staircase or elevator to floor 3, take a right, and you'll find Room 386 down the long hallway.

Utilize the interactive campus map or Google Maps once you are on campus to get to the UMC.
- Driving
- Purchase a $5 Daily Parking Permit at least a week in advance of your tour date if you do not already have a permit to park on campus. Staff can purchase daily permits up to 30 days in advance.
- Instructions for purchasing this permit can be found on the Employee Parking website.
- We recommend lots 204, 310, and 360.
- If all nearby lots are full you can pay for hourly parking in lot 205, Euclid Parking Garage (parking garage under the CASE building). Please note that hourly parking is more expensive at $2 per hour.

- Biking/Scooter
- Boulder BCycle. CU students and employees get unlimited trips under 60 minutes for 12 months.
- Lime Scooters. $1 to unlock and $.42 cents a minute to ride.
- Bus Routes
- Your Buff OneCard is also your bus pass!
- Transit App for Buff Bus, RTD, HOP, B-cycle and more
- Buff Bus routes
The program starts and ends at the University Memorial Center (UMC) Please be prepared to:
- Walk about 2.25 miles with stops around Main Campus.
- Traverse in and out of multiple buildings.
- Be outdoors in the elements for the morning tour portion.
- Travel via bus to East Campus and Research Park.
- Breakfast/coffee/tea will not be provided in the morning. Starbucks is on the main level of the UMC and opens at 7 AM if you would like to grab a drink/snack beforehand.
- Free lunch! Meal cards are provided by our sponsors at Elevations Credit Union to eat at the Alferd Packer Grill. Lunch options accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. If you would like to eat elsewhere or bring your lunch, you are more than welcome to use your meal card at a later time.
